Autumn at Home

Came home this afternoon to amazing color right where I live. It's been quite a week, but there is something just so extraordinary about the autumn leaves, it just doesn't get old, year after year. This particular autumn in Virginia - especially here in Northern Virginia - has been spectacular. Just had to share it with all of you!

The oaks here often hold on until nearly-spring. Strangely, this year, some of the maples are also holding on. I don't understand it. It is very strange.

And here in North Texas we actually had some decent color . . . and early! Nothing brilliant like in New England and the Great Lakes region, but great for Texas! Our silver maples went yellow and now most of the leaves are down. Saw some muted golds and oranges in the woods near our home. (SW Dallas Co. has some hilly terrain with real trees, believe it or not!)
