From the Sublime to the ...

BB NOTE: Commuting on the choo choo this morning to downtown DC, I came across this item at TitusOneNine while reading the latest online on the trusty cell. Some things we can't even make up.

I guess we might call this a pulpit defense. Looks like we'll be serving Banana Cream Pie this evening at the Cafe - but please, refrain from tossing the pie. We only flip pancakes here.

LATER: Here's the 1547 sermon that the target of the flying banana cream pie was reading when the pie came flying through the air.

Well, it's that sweet, "Of Christian love and Charity," and the Lord provided visual demonstration of how to live in adversity. I bet the parishioners won't forget that sermon anytime soon.

Then, Armstrong+ didn't actually have to turn the other cheek, for he payed attention to Tommy Turtle , he knew to Duck & Cover.

BB - while I do love Lime Pie, I do take offense of your headline Banana Cream is not sub-lime -- both are pretty tasty! :-)

And this was a sermon based on Homily 6 in the book of homilies:

Excellent use of a historical text. You can't accuse Armstrong of a political message when he is preaching from such a wonderful resource.

Here is to the wisdom of the roots of Anglicanism.

I've waited most of the day, I think I've found my favorite comment yet on this odd event ...

"I agree. He didn’t bring enough for everybody. That was an egrecious violation of common courtesy. Mr. Hyde will not be welcome at the parish picnic." Piedmont on T19

I agree Mr. Hyde, consider yourself dis-invited to our parish picnic on 19th ... if you had paying attention "A"-"H" is supposed to bring drinks, "S" - "Z" is supposed to bring the desert ... boy, how rude!

Banana Cream Pie

Banana cream pie recipe, made with milk, eggs, cinnamon, butter, and sliced bananas.
INGREDIENTS:
1 cup whole milk
4 egg yolks
1 cup granulated sugar
5 tablespoons all-purpose flour
3 tablespoons butter, cut in small pieces
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 cups heavy cream divided
2 bananas, thinly sliced and tossed with 1 1/2 tablespoons lemon juice (about 1/2 lemon)
1 baked 9-inch pie shell
PREPARATION:
In a heavy saucepan, bring milk to the boiling point.
Place egg yolks in mixing bowl and beat on medium speed of electric mixer, gradually adding sugar. Beat for 2 minutes, until mixture is thick and lemon-colored. Beat in flour. With mixer on low speed, gradually add the hot milk.
Transfer mixture to heavy saucepan and heat over medium heat, stirring constantly. Let mixture come to a boil and boil for about 1 minute, stirring constantly. Remove from heat and continue to beat until mixture is smooth. Beat in butter a little at a time; then blend in cinnamon. Stir in vanilla extract; let mixture cool.

Beat 1 cup of the cream until firm but not stiff. Mix about 1/2 cup of the whipped cream into the egg mixture to lighten it. Fold remaining whipped cream into egg mixture then fold in sliced bananas.

Transfer filling to the pastry shell. Whip remaining cream and spoon or pipe onto the pie. Refrigerate until serving time.

Throwing is optional. But let's not do it inside.

The young man was clearly a piker... Any pie-tosser worth his salt would have known to toss a coconut cream pie, with their greater aeordynamics and greater hang time.

Seriously though... an event such as this speaks volumes about those in the tinfoil hat fringe of our advarsaries.

Leave the pie throwing to Moe, Larry and Curly, et al.
