A blast from the Past

This is the church of my Virginian (Anglican and Baptist) ancestors, including Anglican John Flood. (I believe the original Anglican colonial church is on the right side) in Buckingham County, Virginia. When the Anglican Church was disestablished, the Baptists took control of the building. They later built an addition and my ancestors are buried under that addition. It has also been described this way: "After the Revolution, the Church of England became the Episcopal Church. Tillotson Parish closed and was later bought by the Baptist Church in 1771, with Rene Chastain as pastor. They have preserved the original section of the church." If you go to the site, take a look at the photo album which shows the inside of the old colonial-era Anglican Church.

You can click on the photos below to see them more clearly. Make sure you read the historical marker, it makes for interesting reading. You can also read it at the Virginia Commonwealth Historical Markers site here. More information on the Commonwealth of Virginia Historical Markers can be found here.
